Finding Freedom | Schon Ward

Drug Treatment Center, Testimonial
Coming to Teen Challenge was absolutely God’s plan.
I did not realize how much I had gotten the wrong idea of God. It was like holding up a mirror to my inner most self. The staff and mentors just didn’t tell me, but  instead showed me and involved me in their lives which helped immensely. As I became obedient to Him and surrendered to Him, I began to not just see things differently, but I started to sincerely change. I chose after graduation to remain in the Re-Entry phase of the program. Through this, I remain plugged in with staff and mentors while experiencing how to live this new life. I enjoy giving back to the Ranch helping with the mechanical issues on campus. I am especially blessed being able to work alongside George. Words cannot express how thankful I am to my family, staff and mentors at the Ranch. A special thanks to Rick Davis who put up with a prideful, stubborn guy but showed the patience and love of Christ!
Hi, my name is Schon Ward, I’m 41 and I come from Louisville, KY employed as an HVAC mechanic. I came to Teen Challenge as a broken man, hearing that God loved me, but not sure that I believed it. It’s not that I didn’t think God was a God of Love, I just couldn’t see how God could love me. Over the past 6 years, I had become a heavy, but functional drinker, never finding hope in a bottle. In 2017 I sobered up, going to church and finding freedom,  however, soon began to fall back into old habits and ways of thinking instead of pressing into God. After a couple of months of off and on again binge drinking, I received my second DUI. Being in jail again, shook me out of being in denial. With this, my family also got serious about my problem. Someone from my church told me about Teen Challenge and I did some research and chose the Men’s Ranch in Cincinnati because it was discipleship focused.

The Good Report

What’s happening with TCC past graduates!

Tim Martin – 1987  Grad  lives in Montana since 1991 and enjoys life in Big Sky country! Hiking, hunting, fishing, climbing, horseback riding and photography. One time I went out on horseback to retrieve a herd of cattle for spring shots and branding the newborns. At the time, that area was known as “open range” and there are no fences and cattle wander in the wilderness like the other animals.  I also renewed my enthusiasm for climbing and rappelling and taking my children on these adventures as well. It hasn’t all been fun. I also have health issues that have curtailed many of my activities. I don’t give up though, I adapt. I take the good with the bad and I appreciate that Life is Beautiful.

Mike Stidham – 2016  Grad has started his own business!
The Liberty Sandwich Factory at 7129 Liberty Centre Dr.

Lonnie Richardson – 1999  Grad Co-owns and operates BasmentWORX a residential and commercial waterproofing company in Cincinnati doing exterior/interior waterproofing, sump pumps, drainage, etc.
